Disaster Aid USA Deployment Report; Harlingen, Texas Flood Response – March 2025

Disaster Aid USA Deployment Report; Harlingen, Texas Flood Response – March 2025

Deployment Summary:
Following the catastrophic rainfall that struck Harlingen, Texas on March 27–28, 2025—dumping between 18 to 22 inches of rain over three counties—Disaster Aid USA (DAUSA) quickly mobilized to support affected communities. The floodwaters overwhelmed local infrastructure, damaged homes, and displaced dozens of families. The need for urgent response was clear, and DAUSA was proud to step in.

Leadership & Coordination:
Team Leader Wayne R. Beaumier, who also serves as Chairman of the Board for DAUSA, led the deployment. Working closely with the Disaster Aid USA leadership team, Wayne coordinated relief operations on the ground while also investing time in the long-term resilience of the region.

Training & Local Capacity Building:
This deployment was about more than just recovery—it was also about training. In Harlingen, Wayne conducted hands-on On-The-Job Training with Rotary District 5930. Local Rotarians received guidance on how to respond effectively to future domestic disasters using their district’s Disaster Response Trailer. DAUSA is committed to equipping local Rotary Clubs and Districts with the tools and knowledge needed to respond in real time when disasters strike their communities.

Relief Activities:

  • Assisted homeowners with gutting and cleaning flooded homes
  • Pulled water-damaged drywall and helped pack up personal belongings
  • Collaborated directly with local Rotarians and volunteers to ensure efficient, compassionate response
  • Recruited and trained new volunteers for hands-on disaster recovery support

A Spirit of Service:
This deployment was a powerful reminder of what it means to be People of Action. Volunteers worked in mud-soaked conditions with hearts full of purpose. The combined efforts of DAUSA, Rotary District 5930, PDG Eddie, and dozens of Rotary members proved, once again, that in times of hardship, the Rotary family shows up—not just with aid, but with compassion and dedication.
