Patrick Lesley District 5890 made a presentation to the Rotary Club of Baytown. Article below.Rotary Disaster Aid USA
By Carol Skewes, email@example.com
Patrick Lesley, Rotary Zone 21-b Director and member of the Bellaire Rotary Club spoke to Baytown Rotarians Sept. 11 about Disaster Aid USA, which provides humanitarian aid stateside and worldwide to victims who suffer from effects of disasters. They have tents and supplies in The Bahamas now.
He challenged the Baytown club to create a strike team of volunteers to help the community with immediate needs following a hurricane or even with smaller jobs as local needs arise.
Baytown Rotary Club President Sheila Crawford plans to do just that. She presented Lesley with a planned contribution of $4000, half the cost of a Disaster Aid USA trailer and another $5000 check to go to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas. The $5000 check for Dorian victims was matched by another $5000 donation from an anonymous Rotarian in the club.

The day before her deployment to The Bahamas DART Angela M. Small was asked by the Weblos of Coles Crossing Cub Scout Pack 1179 to talk about being a community leader and train them how to use the Sawyer water filters.
Once in The Bahamas The Scout Association of The Bahamas volunteered their headquarters as a location for temporary shelter for those displaced due to Hurricane Dorian. They have been working around the clock to get ready to put up our Disaster Aid Tents and host around 300 people!
